It used to cost upward of $4000 to convert a car with an internal combustion engine into an EV. Even an "off the shelf" electric motor will cost more than $800. With a Do It Yourself (DIY) conversion project at home, the whole process is substantially cheaper.
Of course there is much more to owning and maintaining a car than just tightening nuts and sewing up split seams, and you may find that you want to add non-stock parts such as a more efficient air filter or new exhaust to improve performance, and once you understand the basics of automotive maintenance, upgrades and tuning will become more accessible, saving you even more money in the long term.
Repairs can be simple like the above mentioned or they can be a little more difficult. A well-used garage door is more prone to blowing out. They can take a beating but after time they all start to go out. Having a repair person come over and look at it can save you the time and money of going out and buying a new one of it is fixable. A system repair person can fix these magically as they just may need a new part or to be tightened in certain areas.
